Success stories: nameplate marking process

This new success story is related to a company in the automotive industry that sought to streamline its nameplate marking process.

Challenge

As we said, the challenge before us was to be able to streamline the process of marking nameplates for different sites, reading QR codes and depositing them in a FIFO system.

Order

From the customer’s perspective, our solution had to enable the following:

• Multicompetence: Realization of a global solution (plate loader, laser marking, software, overhaul, …)
• Global organization: Ability to intervene, by the same project manager, in all phases.
• Professionalism: Presence of a Project Manager from the pre-sales stage.
• Experience: Completion of similar projects.

Client’s need

The customer wanted all their machines to be equipped to mark stainless steel and aluminum nameplates for electric motors.

The marking had to be composed of alphanumeric characters, data, logos and a QR code with a review step and engraving of the part.

Initially, the marking was done by micro-percussion, hence the customer’s desire to standardize the laser traceability process in order to reduce cycle times.

Marking solution

Finally, the marking solution we chose to meet the customer’s wishes was as follows:

• Dedicated laser marking stations, with i104 EASY 20, 30 and 50W lasers and software common to all locations, allowing the support of all languages and alphabets. But also, a QR code reading system, an autonomous plate with automatic material management (stainless steel / aluminum) and a FIFO warehouse.

• The plates are evacuated from the inside to the outside, without having to open the machine.
