Industrial marking on bearings

In this article you will find all the information about industrial marking of bearings and other metal parts.

Engraving systems for rolling bearings

Bearing marking is a type of marking that allows marking with high precision and at the same time low friction. This type of marking therefore allows high rotational speeds while considerably reducing noise, heat and energy consumption. As the bearings are almost entirely of standard (international) dimensions, they allow more cost-effective exchanges than other parts.

This marking is highly resistant to heat and mechanical wear. Marks made on stainless steel, plastics, ceramics or hardened metals remain permanently legible.

Thanks to the laser marking machine, it is possible to mark bearings on various parts and tools to engrave alphanumeric codes, Datamatrix codes, logos…

Another element to take into account is the engraving system used. There are 3 types of marking:

  1. Micropercussion marking
  2. Scratch marking
  3. Laser marking

Depending on the needs of your project, the Sivart team will recommend the ideal marker. Contact us without obligation to receive more information.

What is an industrial bearing

A bearing is a mechanical element that ensures a mobile link between two elements of a mechanism, where one is in rotation with respect to the other. The main function of a bearing is to allow the relative rotation of these elements under load, with pressure and minimum friction.

Bearing types

There are many varieties of bearings depending on their application. For this reason, we will name the 4 most common types:

  • Ball bearings: this is the most widely used option. There are different types of ball bearings, depending on their industrial application. They are characterized by high speed resistance and very economical maintenance.
  • Needle roller bearings: This bearing is recommended for use in radially limited spaces, a good solution if the radial load capacity is high.
  • Roller bearings: Roller bearings can support high accelerations, speeds and radial loads.
  • Axial bearings: this type of bearing is used for axial loads.

Bearing marking applications

Although we have initially named a few, the most common bearing applications are as follows:

  • Production codes
  • Barcodes
  • Datamatrix codes
  • Inscription of texts
  • Logos
  • Trademark protection
  • Anti-counterfeiting measures
  • Product information

As you can see, bearing marking offers a wide range of applications that can be used in many industries, making them a very useful and indispensable element depending on your business.
